The Inspirational Speech America Needs (The One)

It makes perfect sense, honestly. It's like I've always said: if you're gonna take advice from somebody in this world, it should be a man who owns an American flag pickup truck and a bunch of tiny saddles.

Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather: Why We'd Rather Watch Money May's Next Bout

Floyd Mayweather hasn’t fought since defeating Shane Mosley by unanimous decision in May 2010. In June, he announced through his twitter account that he would be returning to the ring against the up and coming Victor Ortiz.

The fight will be for the WBC world championship on September 17 and is a fight certain to entertain boxing fans. The fight everyone is waiting to see is Floyd vs. Manny Pacquiao, but Mayweather/Ortiz  is actually the fight you want to watch.

You should be anticipating this fight because for one, it’s actually set in stone to happen. People can predict wins for both Mayweather and Pacquiao in their upcoming fights so that the two could square off against each other, but that’s way down the road from now.

IF all goes well for both fighters in their matches later this year, the earliest they could possibly meet is spring 2012. That’s a lot of “ifs” and too far down the road to overlook boxing until that fight happens.

The second reason is because Mayweather hasn’t been in the ring since May 2010 and has only fought twice in the last two years. In 2009, he beat Juan Manuel Marquez and then, of course, last year’s fight with Mosley.

Some are starting to whisper about an aging Mayweather and how the young Ortiz has a good chance of beating him. If Mayweather comes out even a little rusty against Ortiz he not only may lose the first couple of rounds, he may even get knocked down because Ortiz has one-punch knockout power.

The third reason to be excited for the Mayweather vs. Ortiz showdown is simply due to the difference in fight styles.

Victor Ortiz is a southpaw, like Pacquiao, which makes people believe Mayweather chose him as a warm up for Pacquiao. Additionally, similar to Pacquiao, Ortiz is a straight forward volume puncher. He throws a lot of punches, chases opponents around the ring relentlessly, and can absorb punches as well.

Mayweather is a counter-puncher who likes to pick his opponents apart as they throw punches at him. He is great at defense, and prefers to punch only when an opportunity presents itself.

Because of Ortiz’ uncanny similarities to Pacquiao, the Mayweather/Ortiz bout will be the closest thing to Mayweather vs. Pacquiao, for now. In the meantime, the Mayweather/Ortiz pay-per-view bout will do more than suffice.

Cardboard Gods: Card Collecting Just Ain't What It Used to Be

It's good to know I am not alone.  At least Josh Wilker knows what it is like to grow up with your best friends being two-inch pictures printed on cardboard.

Wilker's book Cardboard Gods is a fantastic read.  I just read it this summer, although it came out in April of 2010.  Wilker writes about his unconventional childhood, which involved a hippie mother, a rebelling brother, a dad and boyfriend living under the same roof, and hundreds of baseball cards.

Wilker tells about how in his later, post-college years, he turned to his old baseball card collection to recall memories of his childhood and all the hours he would spend pouring over his "cardboard gods."

While Wilker tells his life story through different memories evoked by certain baseball cards, I was uplifted and also a little sad.

The uplifting part was that Wilker went far into his 20s and 30s before realizing what to do with his life (which gives many of us striving writers some hope).  The sad part is that the passion he felt for collecting baseball cards as a youth, the same passion I felt, just isn't there any more.

I remember my brother and I would run up to the nearest Casey's General Store to buy a new pack of cards whenever we scraped up enough money.

I remember pouring over the sports page, just waiting for Northpark Mall in Davenport, Iowa to announce when the next "card show" would be.  We would hit all the good tables at the card shows and always find some hidden gems, while never spending more than one or two dollars per card.

Trading cards was like a sport to us.  We would play basketball for cards.  We would make picks on all the NFL games on Sunday, and whoever got the most correct won the card the other put up for grabs for the week.

Cards were divided into teams, and then players within the teams.  This got more difficult in the free agent era.  When a player was traded or signed by another team, if often meant a whole night rearranging the pages and pages of cards we had in our card books so everything was in current order.

We would criticize the other neighborhood kids who didn't really have a favorite player. One week the kid down the street wanted to trade for all of my David Robinson and Jack McDowell cards because that was his favorite player, the next week it was Gary Payton and Travis Fryman.

Why couldn't he just love someone the way I love Reggie Miller and Kenny Lofton and stick with a player?  It made trading cards seem so much more meaningful if you had a favorite player you wanted to collect.

In other words, collecting and trading cards was a huge part of my youth in the '90s, much as it was for Wilker and other kids in the '70s and '80s.  The difference is this: I collected cards for the pure joy of it, much like Wilker. Many other kids in the '90s, however, saw dollar signs instead of collections.

Beckett magazines were flying off the shelves so people could see how much their card cost.  I remember getting a Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card, and even though I could have taken it to one of my beloved card shows and made a pretty penny for it, it was invaluable to me.

I didn't care what Beckett said, or what the guy at the card show said. To me it was worth millions.

For many kids my age, card collecting became more about how much value their cards had to other collectors, instead of how much value it had to them.  It is a shame, but it is a fact.

This is why card collecting has died a slow death.  Some still collect, sure, but the good cards are out of reach to kids.  They are too expensive and too sought after for their dollar value.

A young Derek Jeter fan can not dream of collecting all of his cards, unless he has rich parents.  Cards are just too expensive.

I still have my card collection.  Thousands and thousands of cards are crammed in my books.  I don't foresee myself ever getting rid of them, no matter the value of the cards themselves.

Many of them have more sentimental value to me than they would to anybody else, regardless of what Beckett says the cost of the card is.

The Internet and DirecTV have done many great things.

However, one thing they have taken away is the excitement a kid can get from cracking open a new pack of cards and seeing his favorite player staring back at him.

Kids in this day and age can see that player anytime they want, in real time.

Card collecting just ain't what it used to be, but I am glad I was around to see what it once was.

Dallas's Dirk Nowitzki shakes off illness to turn the heat on Miami

? Mavericks level NBA finals series with 86-83 victory
? Nowitzki steals show and puts LeBron James in shade

Dirk Nowitzki shook off illness to steer Dallas Mavericks to a series-levelling 86-83 win over the Miami Heat in the NBA finals.

Nowitzki had been struggling with flu in the build-up and although that showed for the first three quarters, he rose to the occasion in the final period, scoring 10 of his 21 points to see his side over the line to draw level 2-2 in the best-of-seven series.

No side have ever come from 3-1 behind to win in the finals but that would have been the challenge facing Dallas, who were 69-65 behind going into the fourth period before their late surge.

In contrast to Nowitzki's show-stealing flourish, the Miami star LeBron James contributed only eight points, a disappointing return as he made just three out of 11 shots.

James maintains his confidence has not dropped as low as his scoring totals in the NBA finals. The two-times MVP said he needed to be more assertive. "I got the ball in the post a few times, and I seen double teams," he said. "I tried to kick it out to guys and they've made shots for us.

"At the same time, I can't let that stop my aggression when they bring two on the ball. I still got to make plays for my team, but also make plays for myself to keep me in the rhythm of the game. I'm confident with my ability. It's about going out there and knocking them down. When you have the opportunity, you have to knock them down."

Dwayne Wade top-scored with 32 points in a losing cause and Chris Bosh added 24 more.

The teams meet again in Game Five on Thursday.

MLB Trade Deadline: Why Jose Reyes Isn't Going Anywhere

The trade deadline is on July 31 at four in the afternoon, eastern time. The New York Mets have already shown they will be sellers, not buyers, this year.

They've already dealt closer Francisco Rodriguez to the Milwaukee Brewers for two prospects yet to be named. Who will be leaving Flushing next?

It certainly won't be shortstop Jose Reyes. Jose Reyes, despite being currently on the disabled list for a short stint, has easily been the best player on the team. Perhaps even in the National League, or maybe even the entire Major League, in some peoples' eyes.

He leads the entire league in average, with a .354 mark. Despite being injured for a few games, he's tied for fifth in the league in runs with 65. He is also second in the league in stolen bases with 30.

Those are some very pretty numbers. He, David Wright, and Ike Davis are the three players the Mets should build around. Reyes is an integral part of the team.

He's been the best leadoff hitter in the game, is an outstanding shortstop defensively, and his speed and attitude brings a spark to the Mets that help give them life.

After owner Fred Wilpon's comments on Reyes, saying that if he thinks he's going to get Carl Crawford money, he's crazy, Reyes has came to life, and gone on a tear, more than a hot streak. He's been unstoppable for the Mets, turning in multi-hit game after multi-hit game.

So who will the Mets trade, you may ask? The Mets are planning to trade outfielder Carlos Beltran to a contender. They're almost sure to trade Beltran to another team.

If they trade Beltran and clear up some more money in that deal, the Mets will surely have enough money to support Reyes and most of the other team.

Reyes will not be going anywhere, Sandy Alderson would be crazy to trade his best player. Jose will remain a Met.

LeBron James apologises for calling journalist 'retarded'

? Miami Heat star comes under media pressure
? James at first denied comment

Another difficult week for Miami Heat's LeBron James, who has found himself picked up by media throughout the country for referring to a question from a journalist as "retarded" during a press conference.

Facing reporters with team-mate Dwayne Wade after a Game 3 loss to the Boston Celtics in the NBA's Eastern Conference semi-finals, he was heard to mumble the word behind his hand as Wade was asked about Miami's alleged dirty play.

As the affair attracted attention the player initially claimed he didn't know what people were talking about, then admitted he had used the term, before finally saying sorry on Monday. "I want to apologize for using the 'R' word after Game 3," he said after the Heat's Game 4 overtime victory. "If I offended anyone, I sincerely apologise."

By then, as James must surely know, the damage was already done. "LeBron James was oblivious that his use of the word 'retarded' was offensive," said the Boston Herald, while the Chicago Sun?Times noted: "James, who wields more cultural power than almost anyone else, is completely clueless when he demeans and trivializes ... In the game of sensitivity, he shot a giant brick."

Advocacy groups had called for the apology, although since then much has also been made of the $100,000 fine imposed on Kobe Bryant last month when he used a homophobic slur towards a referee during a game. The NBA has, as yet, not announced any plans to fine James.

USA: Video nasty for radio announcer

A tough week, too, for Mike Parker, the radio voice of Oregon State University sport. The announcer, who has been commentating for 12 years, is to seek treatment for his alcohol problems. The decision was taken after a video on YouTube, which had been online for sometime, showing what appeared to be a very drunk man eating a napkin, turned out to be Parker.

"To be in that kind of state, and so obviously terribly impaired from the alcohol that I could not be aware of what I was doing, is very frightening. It's embarrassing, it's shameful, it's humiliating," Parker told the Oregonian on Wednesday.

The video was taken at a Denny's diner while Oregon's Beavers men's basketball team were in Los Angeles to play USC and UCLA. Parker appears to be blissfully unaware he was happily munching on a napkin despite the derision of fellow diners.

He described his alcohol problems as "long-standing" but had been unaware they had been immortalised on film until a colleague drew his attention to it several weeks ago.

USA: Larry Bird obsession gives fan the bird

Some regret also for Boston Celtics fan Eric Torpy, who is now coming to terms with voluntarily asking for an extra three years on a prison sentence to honour his Celtics hero Larry Bird, reports the Boston Globe.

In court on charges of armed robbery and shooting with intent to kill in 2005, he was facing a 30-year sentence and told the judge he wanted three more to match the 33 on Bird's iconic shirt. "He said if he was going down, he was going to go down in Larry Bird's jersey,'' the Oklahoma district judge Ray Elliott told the Associated Press. "He was just as happy as he could be.''

Six years in a state penitentiary has changed his mind, however, as he explained in an interview with the Globe: "I kind of wished that I had 30 instead of 33. Recently I've wisened up," he said. "That three is a big deal, you know? Three years matters.''

With elegant symmetry for Torpy, who has a "3" tattooed on each of his elbows, will turn 33 this year and is eligible for parole in 2033, it's all about the Bird: "I'll always represent Larry Bird,'' he said. "He'll always be on me ... To me, he supersedes all basketball legends.''

But the convict is equally equanimous about what the Bird thinks about him. "I'm pretty sure he thinks I'm an idiot,'' he said. "I mean, truthfully, most people do. My own family does, so I'm pretty sure he does, too.''

Australia: Country unites to honour Lionel Rose

Australia has come together amid glowing tributes for boxer Lionel Rose, who died last Sunday. The fighter was the first Aboriginal Australian to win a world title, beating Japan's Masahiko "Fighting" Harada in Tokyo for the bantamweight belt in 1968.

His win was widely credited with opening doors for Aboriginals, who, at the time, did not have the right to vote. Rose had a record of 42 wins and 11 losses and was welcomed home after his victory by a quarter of a million celebrating Australians.

"We've lost not only a very good sportsman, but a very fine person," contemporary fighter Johnny Famechon told the Australian. Trainer Johnny Lewis acknowledged Rose's contribution in the same paper: "In the ring he was a superstar and he helped bring the country together."

The ex-Wallabies rugby union captain Mark Ella described him as the "greatest indigenous athlete of all-time" and "a champion in every sense of the word". While the Courier Mail summed up collective feelings by commenting: "The national outpouring of grief following his death is testament to an 'everyman' who reflected in all of us ? our successes and failures, our strengths and foibles."

Something Rose would surely have approved of. Upon returning from Tokyo, he insisted his mother, Gina, join him in an open-top car to experience the cheering of the crowds. When asked whether his win would help the indigenous people and their struggles, he replied: "I'm not too clued up with all this. I think of myself as an Australian. I don't go in for all this black and white thing. To me, we're all Australians."

An answer that could be, in itself, no more Australian, in every sense of the word. Rightly saluted as a national hero, he is to be laid to rest at a state funeral tomorrow.

Italy: Gattuso told to clean up his act

Milan's 0-0 draw with Roma, which clinched the side's first title since 2004 last Saturday, has continued to be reported throughout the week but to some extent on an unexpected level as some faecal-themed celebratory chanting has taken a little gloss off the win.

The midfielder Gennaro Gattuso thanked and then joined travelling Milan Ultras in the stands who, unsurprisingly, set about repeating their favourite chants with the player enthusiastically joining in. However, the repertoire soon brought them to: "Leonardo: uomo di merda" or "Leonardo: man of shit", in reference to the former Milan hero, who joined rivals Inter as coach this season.

While his team-mate Ignazio Abate realised that what may be acceptable for fans is less-so for players expected not to deliberately cause offence, and ceased the chant, Gattuso happily carried on. The incident is proving a little embarrassing for his club.

Gazzeta Dello Sport soon urged him to "take a look at yourself and clean up". While Gattuso did not apologise but said: "I didn't start the singing off. I just went and joined the fans for a few chants. Should I apologise for joining in with them?" Which was not enough.

Leonardo asked for an explanation in a statement on the Inter website: "The day I decided to leave Milan, Gattuso said to me that I had at least been coherent in my choice. But today I read in lots of papers that he still wants to give his own version of events. I would very much like to know what he has to say, since neither on the phone nor in person has that ever been possible. Furthermore, I would like to know what Milan's official position is on this matter."

Prompting the following from Milan's vice-president, Adriano Galliani: "Let's not make a drama out of this. I haven't seen the footage but I think it is just a venial sin." Firmly placing his player's misbehaviour into the "non-mortal" naughtiness bracket ? "venial" being described as a "sin that is not regarded as depriving the soul of divine grace".

However, Galliani was unforthcoming on the stance Christian theology would take when addressing the issue of the amount of holy opprobrium to be levelled at someone headbutting Spurs' coach Joe Jordan in the face. As Gattuso did in February.

India: Cheeerleader in demand after sacking

Problems and possibilities in the same week for the Indian Premier League cheerleader Gabriella Pasqualotto, who has found herself sacked and sent home after blogging on her experiences, and specifically about Australian cricketers in the IPL, but has since found herself in considerable demand.

The South African was a cheerleader for the Mumbai Indians and described her role as "like walking porn", a phrase the Hindustan Times repeated in a banner headline with relish. "The men see your face, then your boobs, your butt, and then your boobs again!" she continued.

However, despite a reference to the parties at night "when it all happens", some players came out of the blog rather well. "The few Indian players we have met, such as MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma, have been very polite and keep to themselves in the dark corners. Hotshots like Tendulkar with families at home are never present," she wrote. Others, however, were not so fortunate.

"The Aussies are fun but naughty, such as Aiden Blizzard and Dan Christian," she said. "By the end of a crazy evening, a certain someone had played kissing catchers with three girls known to me only, although he has his own girlfriend back home. He cooed to each girl: 'Come home with me, I just want to cuddle!'"

The cricketer in question remains unknown but it is understood Pasqualotto was sacked after an unnamed Australian player complained about the blog. Upset and angry, she told ESPN Star: "I was sent home as if I was a criminal," and: "Nothing I wrote was directed at any one person. I think the cricketer who complained had a guilty conscience." She then reiterated her original claims: "The guys treated us like pieces of meat."

It's not all bad. The issue has again raised the debate in India of why western women are imported as cheerleaders to the IPL and Pasqualotto has admitted she is having no trouble selling her story to the Indian, Australian and South African press. "Due to the huge publicity and interest with my story, I have been approached by many media clientele, locally and internationally," she told the Hindustan Times, while also busily tweeting: "Not after fame/money. Just want to be heard."

Games That Defined a Stanley Cup Champion: Bruins at Canadiens

There are certain moments in time that define a team. There are games that truly illustrate the genetic makeup of a champion.

In this series, one game will be analyzed from each series of the Boston Bruins 2011 Stanley Cup championship run. Each contest showcased the Bruins’ resolve and resiliency. This edition of the Boston Bruins was much different than their predecessors.

They learned how to overcome…

April 21, 2011.

The Boston Bruins were trailing their best out of seven first-round series against their division rival Montreal Canadiens. After two lackluster efforts at home, the Bruins found themselves in a very deep 0-2 series hole going to the Bell Centre in Montreal.

They would have to win both games in Montreal to have any realistic chance. History was also working against the Bruins, no team in franchise history has come back from a 0-2 series deficit and won the series.

In Game 3, Boston held on to win 3-2. The Bruins skated out to the dreaded three-goal lead only to see the Habs close the gap to one, 4:08 into the final period. However, the lead stood up mostly due to the remarkable goaltending of Tim Thomas who made 34 saves on 36 shots.  Montreal now held a 2-1 series edge with Game 4 on home ice.

The Bruins were in another must win situation. Would they rise to the occasion or fold under the pressure? If Boston lost, the Habs would have a 3-1 series stranglehold and another fruitless Bruins’ postseason would be on the horizon.

Game 4 did not start out the way Boston wanted. Montreal carried the play in the first period out-shooting Boston, 15-8. The Canadiens took a one-goal (scored by Brent Sopel) lead into the intermission. Montreal had all the momentum and Boston was on their heels.

The Bruins wasted little time answering the bell. Michael Ryder scored a goal, just 2:03 into the second period on a great tape to tape pass from Tomas Kaberle. However, the ice shifted back in Montreal’s favor as they scored two goals in less than two minutes to take a commanding 3-1 lead.

Most teams of Bruins’ past would have crumbled under the pressure of going down by two goals so quickly in a hostile environment. However, coach Claude Julien always told his team not to get too high and don’t get too low. This method of mental equilibrium helped the Bruins keep their composure and it showed the rest of the game.

Defensemen Andrew Ference shot a laser past Montreal goalie, Carey Price at 9:59 of the second period cutting the lead to 3-2. This was the birth of the “Unintentional Bird.” Ference flipped his middle finger at the Montreal crowd basically saying, “We Aren’t Dead yet!”  This gesture which could be considered lewd by most was a sign of the Bruins’ swagger.

Bruins Alternate Captain Patrice Bergeron closed the scoring late in the second period bringing Boston even at 3-3 going into the final frame.

The second period was a tale of two halves, Montreal took the first half and Boston dominated the second.  There was no doubt the last frame was going to be a dogfight.  The Bruins would be playing for their playoff lives.

Just like the first period, the Bruins came out sluggish.  Patrice Bergeron took a bad penalty by hauling down Montreal’s James Wisniewski and the Canadiens coverted shortly thereafter. P.K. Subban beat Tim Thomas on a see and eye shot under the cross bar. The Bruins found themselves trailing for the third time in the game.

It was put up or shut up time again for the Black and Gold.

Boston began to the carry the play peppering Carey Price with quality scoring chances. David Krejci had an opportunity hop over his stick. Johnny Boychuck had the puck on the goal mouth after a scramble, only to shoot it right into the Montreal netminder’s waiting glove. Price was beginning to find his groove and time was running out on the Bruins.

However, during the most dire times, players find a way and Chris Kelly did just that. With less than seven minutes left in the third, Chris Kelly found the puck lying in the crease and drove it past an unsuspecting Carey Price.

The game was now tied at four, but the Bruins were far from out of the woods. Their three comebacks in the game would go for naught if they didn’t finish off Montreal and sent the series back to Boston tied.

Ghosts of Montreal past cropped up yet again with less than three minutes left in the game. Bruins defenseman, Dennis Seidenberg was whistled off for interference and the Bruins found themselves behind the eight ball yet again.

Boston and Tim Thomas staved off Montreal’s final regulation push and Game 4 was going to sudden death overtime.

Plain and simple for the Bruins, win they have new life and lose, well for this Bruins team losing was no longer an option. Michael Ryder made sure of that. Ryder, the former Canadien, corralled a Chris Kelly pirouette pass and rifled a shot past the helpless Price for the game-winner.

The Bruins did the unthinkable. They went to a hostile Bell Centre in Montreal and won BOTH games. There isn’t a Bruins fan alive that thought this team would come back Boston all tied up.  However, this Bruins team defined who they would be throughout the postseason.

They were resilient, stubborn, confident, reinvigorated and scrappy.

The Boston Bruins began to develop the traits of a champion.

Ryan Seacrest Donates a TV and Radio Studio to Philly's Children's Hospital (VIDEO)

Filed under:

Ryan Seacrest at the Children's Hosptial of Philadelphia on 'Today''American Idol' host Ryan Seacrest unveiled a new radio and TV studio in the lobby of the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Friday on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC). His Ryan Seacrest Foundation footed the bill for the closed-circuit studio, which broadcasts to other rooms in the hospital. The system is nicknamed 'The Voice,' and the Seacrest Foundation has installed a similar system in the Children's Healthcare Pediatric Hospital in his home town of Atlanta.

"It's meant for the kids to come down and use," he explained. "They can be a DJ or a host, they can be interviewed, they can interview each other. And also we'll have celebrity guests stop by and perform for them. But I wanted to come up with something that they can do while they're here, because some of them are here for quite a while."

The first of those celebrity guests was schedule to stop in Friday for a surprise visit, except it didn't surprise AJ, one of the kids at the hospital, who knew it would be Selena Gomez. "I said, 'That not a surprise if you know already. How did you find out?'" Seacrest asked AJ. Turns out a construction worker told him "by accident." AJ may have a future in investigative journalism.

Bob Saget Wants to Submit a Tape of Himself to 'America's Funniest Home Videos' (VIDEO)

Bob Saget, 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon'Bob Saget isn't proud of the story he told on 'Late Night' (Weeknights, 12:37AM ET on NBC), but he must have felt it was important for him to share it. He left absolutely no detail out, and did a masterful job of building a growing sense of dread, anticipation and suspense as the story progressed.

From the details of him wearing a robe and Ugg slippers to the fact that there was a ladder near a pool, and a jacuzzi was involved, we had an idea of where it was going. But still the exact scenario was pretty funny.

To hang a hummingbird feeder, he hooked a wire to a hammer and climbed the ladder to throw the hammer and wire over a tree branch. "I threw it, the hammer came off and came at me and I fell off the ladder into the jacuzzi," he admitted.

'What If You Lived At Ikea' Is 375 Sq. Ft. Of Pre-Packaged Home

Filed under:

Living in Ikea would be a lot like living at home, except the furniture is already built so there's none of those tiny wrenches and missing screw stuff to deal with. Oh yeah, there's also the fact that they seem to think people can live totally comfortably in under 400 square feet of space with minimalist household tools. Would it work? Is it comfortable? That's the theme behind Christian Gideon's latest set of photos, "What if you lived at Ikea?"

Gideon, his brother Dylan and their buddy Michael hung out in the pre-created living space at their local Ikea, waiting for staff and customers to roll on through, picking up their Ekby Gruven and other easy-to-build furniture along the way, and snapping shots of the living situations there-in. And because you're wondering, they thought the bedrooms were the most true-to-life of every area they frollicked.

Minnesota Twins Announce Michael Cuddyer Won't Be Traded

Michael Cuddyer will not leave the Minnesota Twins before the end of the season via trade, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

He may walk when his contract expires at the end of the season, and if the team's announced intention to re-sign him falls through.

But the 32-year-old outfielder will not be traded to the Phillies, Red Sox, Braves, Giants or any other club shopping for a right-handed bat before the July 31 trade deadline, according to the Tribune.

Cuddyer has hit .292 with 13 home runs and 43 RBI in 87 games with the Twins, 42-49 and fourth in the American League Central, who may very well be sellers as the trade stove heats.

But they won't sell Cuddyer, fifth in the majors in batting average among right fielders. He also has the second highest on-base percentage (.368), fourth highest OPS (.833) and sixth highest slugging (.465) among American Leaguers at his position.

The Top 5 Heels in WWE Today: Do You Agree?

I've often said this, and I'll always stand by what I said. Heels are never given enough credit in the WWE.

Yes, we 'boo' them, yes, we jeer them and logically speaking, I know they are supposed to be 'boo'ed and jeered at because that's their on-screen persona.

But nevertheless, one must always remember that without quality and credible heels, the top baby-faces of the company would never be in the positions that they are in right now.

For the benefit of those who do not know what I mean by the term 'heels', I'll explain.  They are actually the 'bad guys' that the audience is supposed to hate. So I guess the meaning of the term 'baby-face' should be a no-brainer.

The WWE has seen some of the best heels throughout the Attitude and/or PG era, and some of them have certainly left that 'heel mark' behind after parting ways with the company.

I'm talking about guys like Chris Jericho, Steve Austin and Edge. Make no mistake, they were some of the best baby-faces at one time or another, but it was their heel persona which had taken passionate fans like myself to adulate them and appreciate all that they have done for the company.

Anyway, this article mentions the top 5 heels in the WWE today. These are just my thoughts and preferences so do feel free to disagree. The guys that I have chosen have been carefully considered by me, and I've judged them based on their mic skills, ring-work, etc. So here they are:

1st: CM Punk

I've been a huge admirer of Punk's ability, and he's certainly one of the best guys the Pro-Wrestling industry has to offer.

And in all honesty, officials in the WWE have been smart enough to notice that and have thus, made him a three-time World Heavyweight Champion and a one time ECW, tag-team and Intercontinental Champion.

Above all else, one of his most precious accolades involves him being a 2 time Money-In-The-Bank winner, the only superstar to have clinched that briefcase twice.

CM Punk possesses something that most superstars can't naturally have—the heel look. When he goes out into the four-sided circle, he has that ability and expressions to convince people of how good he can play the role of a 'bad guy', and that's something which has certainly wowed fans and myself alike.

And let's not get carried away here: Punk has many more abilities in his arsenal than the ones mentioned above. And of those abilities that stand out has to undoubtedly be his microphone work.

Like him or not, Punk is indeed one of the guys who can truly cut a promo and trash-talk. He rarely stutters, and is extremely comfortable on the mic. Adding to this, he has perhaps one the best wrestling move-sets that the industry has to offer, and his matches hardly ever disappoint.

All in all, Punk is the complete package. It's a shame that he wants to leave the WWE after the Money In The Bank PPV, and sometimes I truly wonder why WWE don't 'give-in' to demands of their top superstars.

2nd: The Miz

Everybody knows that the self-proclaimed 'Awesome One' has the unique ability of talking-the-talk, and don't worry he didn't talk his way to being second in my 'top 5 heels list'!

As a matter of fact, he made it this far because he has earned it. He unquestionably has a phenomenal ability to deliver good promos.  Even though there are some that might question his in-ring work, I will assure you that he has more moves in his arsenal to keep us entertained.  More moves than John Cena if you know what I mean.

The Miz is a former WWE champion. He has held the WWE tag-team titles a couple of times, and is a former United States Champion.

I will strongly admit that I was one of those who questioned WWE's decision to give the Championship strap to the Miz, but my oh my, he has proved some of us wrong now, hasn't he?

The Miz has been good in that title picture, and like him or not I think he most certainly has been thoroughly entertaining thus far. I wouldn't necessarily say that it's been all Jekyll and no Hyde for 'The Awesome One' because there were at times whereby I felt he could have done more to get a better reaction from the audience.

With that said, The Miz has the ability to be one of the best heels that this company has ever seen, and I truly hope officials would use him both wisely, and of course, properly.

Another fact that I like about The Miz, is his ability to put on good feuds with any wrestler. I'm not openly saying that his feuds have been superb, but rather the feuds that he has been involved in are often good, and not lackluster.

3rd: Alberto Del Rio

In a short period of time, Alberto Del Rio is one of the very few superstars that have made an impact in World Wrestling Entertainment.

Del Rio made appearances in Japanl, and for those who do not know, Del Rio is actually a former professional Mixed Martial Artist, boasting a professional record of 9 wins and 4 losses. Del Rio has also fought in the now defunct PRIDE Fighting Championships, and during his tenure there, he faced arguably the biggest opponent of his career in Mirko 'Cro Cop'.

Del Rio was knocked out in 46 seconds by the MMA veteran, after 'Cro Cop' landed with one of his vintage left kicks.

When Alberto Del Rio first burst onto the scene in the WWE, I was highly impressed with his entrance and the impression that he had provided as a heel superstar.

However, I did have some doubts over him. Initially, I thought that WWE was just trying to emulate this guy into the new John Bradshaw Layfield, but boy was I wrong.

Del Rio impressed me tremendously with his microphone and in-ring work. To date, he speaks extremely well with the mixture of Spanish and English in his promos.  And in my humble opinion, he does this better than his Mexican counter-part, Rey Mysterio.

That's not all folks; To date, the 2011 Royal Rumble winner possesses one of the best wrestling skill-sets in the PG era and has certainly brought in some of his MMA striking expertise to the Pro-Wrestling industry.

With the flamboyant wrestling moves and microphone skills, Del Rio makes it to third in my top 5 list, behind The Miz and CM Punk.

4th: Wade Barrett

The former bare-knuckle boxer is fourth in my 'top 5 heels list'.

Wade Barrett became known after competing and winning the first season of WWE NXT. The Preston native became a favorite of mine after impressing me during his tenure in NXT. He showed me that he had good microphone skills, and good ring-abilities too.

But are we supposed to be surprised? I don't mean to be stereotyping, but most English professional wrestlers seem to excel. And I'm talking about guys like William Regal, Desmond Wolfe, Douglas Williams, and Brutus Magnus.

In one way of another, these guys revolutionized the Pro-Wrestling industry of today.  Make no mistake about this—Wade Barrett is worth mentioning in that list.

I'm sure all of us were caught off-guard when the season 1 rookies of NXT literally destroyed the main event, thus paving the way for the rise of the Nexus.

Wade Barrett impressed me when he assumed the position of a leader, and did likewise for a stable that was created later on otherwise known as The Corre.

Barrett is also a former Intercontinental Champion, and has also competed several times in the main event for the WWE Championship. In my humble opinion, Barrett's athletic look is one of the attributes that gives him the natural heel look and persona.

Only a fool would say that Barrett isn't good, because to date, he has proved to fans that he has the ring and microphone skills to survive in the Pro-Wrestling industry. It'd be interesting to see how officials or creative for that matter put him to good use, because we've already seen how the careers of the likes of Jack Swagger has gone down the drain.

This man has what it takes to be the best heel that the industry has ever seen, but he needs to be given the opportunity and the experience to excel.

5th: Christian

Perhaps best known for being a 7 time tag-team champion with Edge, Christian makes it to number 5 of my list.

The Canadian has won many accolades in the Professional Wrestling industry, holding multiple championships that most notably include the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, the ECW Championship and the WWE Intercontinental, tag-team and World Heavyweight championships.

On a side note, Captain Charisma has also been a 1-time holder of the WWF European, Light Heavyweight and Hardcore championships.

Throughout his career, Christian has wowed fans alike in a myriad of matches, and most notably gained recognition for his epic Tables, Ladders and Chairs matches. C

hristian has had the opportunity to be both a face and a heel throughout his entire career, and gas been pretty much a success in portraying those roles.

Christian is an experienced individual and certainly knows the roots to the four-sided circle.

He has good microphone skills, and a good wrestling move-set to go along with it. Christian had a good official villainous run during his time in TNA, but it's his heel run in the WWE that has caught my attention.

After being drafted to Smackdown, Christian's heel change honestly caught me off-guard. That is because Christian was so popular and over with the fans, that I initially thought that he would not have what it takes to be a credible heel.

And I was proven wrong, because Christian turned out to be a great heel.  He was easily able to get reactions from the crowds.

I felt this was pretty impressive, because I believe that it takes a while for the WWE universe to know what makes a legitimate heel.

In all honesty, Captain Charisma did it almost instantaneously.

In conclusion, I would like to add that there are many superstars or wrestlers rather, that can be worthy of being in my 'top 5 heels list'. However, I've analyzed based on a couple of criteria, and felt that the above mentioned wrestlers deserve more credit than most heels.

Olivia's Catch is Bigger Than Your Average Goldfish

While fishing with some co-workers at a local lake in Kansas City, Olivia Riley reeled in the biggest goldfish I have ever seen! This thing could eat your pet goldfish in one bite and still have room for seconds. How did a goldfish wind up in a lake?

In a interview with the local news Olivia suspected that the once regular sized gold fish may have been flushed and somehow made it to a better place, or more likely was let go by a previous owner and the goldfish managed to survive.

Can Brandon Lloyd Be a Top 15 Fantasy Receiver Again?

Brandon Lloyd’s Mock Draft Central ADP puts him at 15. Yahoo has him at 16. Those rankings are absurd considering he led the NFL with 1,448 receiving yards last year. Lloyd was also tied for fourth with 11 touchdowns. He was the highest scoring receiver in non-PPR leagues.

There are reasons for the low rankings though. For starters, Lloyd averaged 338.6 receiving yards over his first seven seasons. His high mark prior to last year was just 733 yards. He had 15 touchdowns before last year, with a high of six. If it were his magical third year in the league, the skepticism would be minimal, but a player that breaks out at 29 has to raise a few questions.

Especially a player that saw his pass-happy coach (Josh McDaniels) given the boot and run-first/defensive-minded John Fox taking over. One of the Broncos’ priorities will be adding a running back once free agency hits. If that runner is DeAngelo Williams, coupled with Knowshon Moreno and running quarterback Tim Tebow, the passing game is sure to take a back seat to the ground attack.

Plus, Lloyd didn’t exactly finish the season strong averaging 68.6 yards in Denver’s last seven games last year after posting a 107.6 average through the first nine games.

However, Lloyd did play well with Tim Tebow. He caught four passes for 79 yards and a score in Week 15 against the Raiders. He followed that up with five catches for 11 yards against the hapless Texans secondary. He finished the year off with five catches for 73 yards and a touchdown against the Chargers.

That strong finish keeps him 25 though. I think he’s a decent WR2, but I won’t be willing to make him a top 15 fantasy wide receiver pick. Not with those question marks.

What’s your take on Brandon Lloyd?

'Jersey Shore' Season 4 Trailer: Snooki's Driving Stick (VIDEO)

Jeresy Shore Season 4Just think about this tagline for a minute: "Italy gets smushed."

OK, now that you've gotten your shuddering and/or chuckling out of the way, take a look at the first trailer for 'Jersey Shore' Season 4, which features Snooki's now infamous fender bender with the Florence police.

Deena and Snooks are driving in a very appropriately-sized car and have a hard time understanding the Italian traffic sings. Deena ominously says, "Nicole, you better not kill us" and then ... see for yourself below.

'Jersey Shore' Season 4 debuts Aug. 4 at 10PM on MTV. Season 5 is currently filming, and there have been reports of both Vinny and The Situation quitting the show -- and then ultimately returning to Seaside Heights. Sounds like drama.
