Philadelphia Eagles: Dick Jauron Named New Defensive Coordinator in Cleveland

According to reports on ESPN, Philadelphia Eagles defensive backs coach Dick Jauron has signed with Tom Heckert and the Cleveland Browns as their new defensive coordinator.

Jauron spent just one season with the Eagles and helped lead the Eagles secondary to 23 interceptions in 2010, which was ranked third in the NFC.

Left cornerback Asante Samuel accounted for seven of those interceptions earning him the right to another Pro Bowl appearance.

With the departure of Jauron, the Eagles find themselves with yet another need in the coaching staff being down a defensive backs coach. Because of this, I think the best-suited candidate to fill the defensive coordinator position in Philly is New Orleans Saints defensive backs coach Dennis Allen.

He could fill the void for two needs in Philadelphia, the coordinator and defensive backs coach. That way the Eagles front office can then shift their focus to finding the new running back coach—maybe Duce Staley?

Stay tuned as the Reid/Allen interview is scheduled for this weekend so things should start to unfold here in just a day or so!
