Kemba Walker: Will Walker Be Selected After Brandon Knight in the NBA Draft?

Kemba Walker to Be Surpassed by Kentucky's Brandon Knight?

Guard Kemba Walker vastly improved his draft stock last season with the Connecticut Huskies.

Particularly, he improved his draft stock in the postseason, setting the Big East Tournament scoring record and leading the Huskies to a national title.

There was no one player that impressed more than Walker at the end of the year, who only had one bad game in the entire postseason, which ironically came in the national championship game.

But Walker wasn't the only player that greatly helped his draft stock in the NCAA Tournament.

So did Kentucky point guard Brandon Knight, whose clutch play (two game-winners) and ability to find his teammates in the open floor elevated him in the eyes of many.

So, the question is, who will be selected first in the 2011 NBA Draft?

To me, it depends on what the Utah Jazz do with this No. 3 pick.

With No. 3, Kyrie Irving and Derrick Williams will likely be off the board. The Jazz could do a multitude of things. More specifically, if they grab Turkey center Enes Kanter, it could mean Walker will be selected over Knight, at No. 5 to the Toronto Raptors, who need a shooting guard badly.

But if the Cavaliers grab Williams No. 1, then they may take Knight at No. 4 as their point guard of the future.

In short, both Walker and Knight appear dead-even in many NBA scouts' eyes, it's just a matter of what a team needs more, a point guard or a shooting guard. Sure, Walker could be an NBA point guard, but I see him as more of an undersized shooting guard given his scoring ability.

As far as who will make more of an impact at the NBA level, I like Walker. But I don't think a lot of teams are looking at him as their next point guard.

Either way, neither of them should be unhappy if they aren't the second guard chosen in the draft. They've risen their stocks as high as they possibly could.
