The movement to erect a Robocop statue in the city of Detroit has a new supporter. Peter Weller, the actor who played Robocop, came forward on Funny or Die, endorsing the statue in a message to the city's people. That's right, Robocop supports the construction of a Robocop monument in Detroit. Not a huge shock, but it is definitely cool.Although the mayor of Detroit has shown little enthusiasm for even considering a Robocop statue for his city, a great deal of money has been raised by supporters supplying donations. Over $50,000 in a matter of a few days! Thats not chump change by any standard.
Why not have a statue of Robocop? They have a statue of Rocky in Philidelphia. Hopefully Peter Weller's endorsement will give a game changing momentum to the movement. I'd like to take a picture next to Robocop one day. It would actually give me a reason to go to Detroit.
