How Did the Denver Broncos Do in the 2011 NFL Draft?
With the second overall pick in the draft the Denver Broncos took Von Miller. This a team that needed to address problems on the defensive line, and many thought they would draft Marcell Dareus. Miller is a terrific player, and some even rated him as the No. 1 overall prospect.
Miller and Dareus' career will be linked, especially because the Broncos desperately needed to draft a defensive tackle. John Elway and John Fox must feel good about the ones they have or the free agency markte because they didn't draft a defensive tackle. That move has a lot of people questioning the Broncos.

Still the Broncos had a good draft. Miller will contribute immeidately, and in Fox's system he will definitely be attacking the quarterback. The Broncos traded back in the second round to acquire more picks, which was a very good move. They then drafted the top overall safety, which I'm sure they were shocked he was still on the board.
Denver knew their problems were on the defensive side of the ball, and they went out and drafted solid defenders. The pick of tight end Julius Thomas in the fourth round, and tight end Virgil Green in the seventh round are solid picks. Both are very athletic, but need work as blockers.
Grade: B
The Broncos filled most of their needs in the draft. Von Miller is an exceptional player, and could
perhaps be the defensive rookie of the year in 2011. Denver addressed their needs in the secondary by picking up two safeties.
However, they didn't take a defensive tackle, nor did they draft Champ Bailey's eventual replacement at corner. Because of this they don't reach the grade of A.
