Evan Longoria is one of the best third basemen in the MLB, in large part because of his spectacular defense.
But after watching this video, he gives a whole new definition to the phrase "think fast."
While he is being interviewed about his team, teammates are having batting practice in the background.
Right as Longoria is in the middle of an answer, a ball rockets towards a helpless reporter. With one hand he makes the snag and calmly tosses the ball aside.
No big deal for a guy that plays at the "hot corner" right?
Well, believe it or not, not all of the 2.5 million people that have seen the video agree. Some have called out the video for not being real.
Speculation is circulating that it was a video made by Gillette Shaving Company, a company Longoria represents.
Mashable.com goes over a few potential reasons this video may be from Gillette:
The evidence: Longoria has appeared in ads for the brand as a “Gillette Young Gun,” a Gillette logo is prominent in the video, and another seemingly off-the-cuff video, the famous “Roger Federer Trickshot,” also seemed to be partially staged (and was published by Gillette).
A Gillette rep, however, says the clip is definitely not an ad: “Evan Longoria is a Golden Glove third baseman and this catch speaks for itself.”
Hmmm, the Gillette rep does have a lot of faith in one of the faces of his product to make such an incredible catch.
Gold Glove or not, this catch is a bit too super human—even for Longoria.
What do you think?
