The Blackhawks have been hot and cold during the month of March so far and are heading into the latter part of the month with a 4-3 record and are still in the hunt for the playoffs. They need a strong finish to the month in order to keep themselves in position for a playoff spot, where they can reset themselves and make another run at the Stanley Cup.
The following is a look at the games that the Blackhawks have remaining in the month of March and how they may fare in them.
March 17th: Chicago at Dallas
For the fourth time this season the Chicago Blackhawks and the Dallas Stars will get together and battle it out as the season slowly starts to come to a close. The Stars hold a 2-1 edge over the Blackhawks in the three games that these two teams have played this year, and being that this comes at a critical time of the year it’s going to be a must win game. Dallas is second in their division right now and is playing pretty well. This should be a pretty interesting game and one that both teams need to win.
March 20th: Chicago at Phoenix
The Blackhawks will hit the road again and head to sunny Phoenix to take on the Coyotes. This will be the fourth time that the Hawks and the Coyotes have met and the Coyotes currently hold a two to one advantage over the Hawks heading into this game. Chicago cannot afford to lose this game, and they have to figure out a way to beat the Coyotes and keep their playoff hopes alive.
March 23rd: Florida at Chicago
The Panthers and the Blackhawks will play for the second time this season, with the Panthers winning the first meeting. Hopefully Chicago will be up and ready for their second game against the Panthers and can get a win against them as the month of March comes to a close.
March 26: Anaheim at Chicago
The Ducks come to the Midwest to take on the Blackhawks in what will be the fourth time that these two teams have met, and in the previous three games the Blackhawks have beaten the Ducks twice. Can they continue their success against Anaheim, come out ahead and keep driving towards the playoffs?
March 28th: Chicago at Detroit
The old rivalry is renewed once again as the Hawks will travel to Detroit to take on the Red Wings. This game will mark the fourth time that these two teams have met and the Hawks hold a 2-1 advantage at this time. A win over the Red Wings would help to boost the Blackhawks and could set them rolling towards a strong end to the month which is what they need to make the playoffs.
March 29th: Chicago at Boston
The Blackhawks will close out the month of March with a visit to Boston to take on the Northeast Division leading Bruins. What a way to end the month for the 'Hawks in having to play one of the NHL’s better teams. They need this win to keep moving forward towards a playoff berth and end the month of March strong.
