Mike Singletary's tenure as head coach of the San Francisco 49ers came to an inglorious end on Monday, when the team announced they were firing the third-year boss due to a combination of poor play and lack of control over the team.
Singletary made waves from day one in San Francisco, turning the Niners into a team many thought could win the NFC West in 2010.
However, for all his bluster and gusto, Singletary couldn't deliver the goods, failing to get the storied franchise back into the postseason.
With the Hall of Fame linebacker out of a job, will he find another head coaching position in the near future?
The short-term answer appears to be no. Singletary struggled to connect with players in 2010, and while he showed promise as a coach his first two seasons on the Bay, he's clearly still a work in progress.
However, he could be an excellent coordinator, and could become a good head coach someday.
But, for now, Mike could be facing a demotion in his next position.
