The Golden State Warriors plan to send rookie point guard Jeremy Lin to their NBA D-League team in Reno soon, although he will be with Golden State on Monday night, a league source told FanHouse's Sam Amick.Lin, the third-ever Asian American to play in the NBA, has appeared in 17 games with the Warriors this season, albeit mostly in limited playing time. Averaging fewer than nine minutes per game, Lin is scoring 1.9 points and 1.1 steals during his rookie season playing near his hometown of Palo Alto, Calif.
While Lin has clearly struggled to make his mark as a rookie, he has a history of overcoming obstacles. Despite being rated as California's high school player of the year by most major publications his senior year, Lin didn't receive a single Division I scholarship offer. Paying his way through school, he went on to star at Harvard where he averaged 12.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 115 career games, becoming the first player in Ivy League history to record at least 1,450 points, 450 rebounds, 400 assists and 200 steals.
