With Juan Mata drawing interest from a few clubs after the Spaniard hoisted the U-21 World Cup, Valencia have begun searching for his replacement.
Goal.com says the club are targeting Deportivo La Coru�a's Andres Guardado.
The 24-year-old Mexican just completed a CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament win in a scintillating 4-2 win over the United States, and his talent has become noticeable in La Liga.
Other reports have Valencia inquiring about Manchester United's striker Dimitar Berbatov. But if the club really wish to bolster its midfield, tracking an inconsistent forward after losing Manuel Fernandes and potentially Mata can't be the right decision.
Although, if the sale of Mata does go through, surely it will generate enough funds to sign both Guardado and Berbatov.
