Sal Alosi: Jets' Assistant Suspended After Tripping Dolphins' Player

Sal Alosi, the Jets strength coach, faces a suspension after tripping Dolphins' defensive back Nolan Carroll in Sunday's game.

After the NFL said it was looking into the incident, the Jets wasted little time before sending a message by suspending him the the remainder of the season.

Since the cameras caught him in the act, Alosi had no choice but to apologize.

"I made a mistake that showed a total lapse in judgment. My conduct was inexcusable and unsportsmanlike and does not reflect what this organization stands for," he said Sunday evening.

Monday, he actually took the podium as part of the Jets' weekly press conference and said he wasn't thinking when he stuck his knee out to trip Carroll.

Alosi sounded like a man who knew who was about to be suspended.

In addition to being suspended for remainder of the 2010 season, including any post-season games, he will also be fined $25,000

The punishment from the team might seem severe, but may have been handed down in an attempt for the Jets to avoid further punishment from the NFL.

Everyone has an opinion on what exactly his punishment should be.
