DENVER -- The Denver Nuggets just limped home from a road trip. The Orlando Magic soon will do the same. The Nuggets faced the Magic on Tuesday night at the Pepsi Center in their first home game back after an injury-riddled four-game trip. And they learned before the game guard Chancey Billups is their latest significant injury after having aggravated a partially torn ligament in his right wrist. Billups sat out Tuesday and figures to miss at least one more game.
The Magic will be heading home late Tuesday following a four-game trip. The team hopes there won't be bad news on swingmen Mickael Pietrus (sprained left knee) and Quentin Richardson (sore left elbow), who both sat out Tuesday. While Richardson isn't too concerned about his injury, Pietrus, who will have an MRI on Wednesday, did express some concern.
Billups originally was hurt Nov. 20 when he crashed to the floor against New Jersey. After missing two games, he returned to play on his bad wrist until aggravating the injury at Toronto last Friday, when he fell on it and also hurt it when he reached in on defense.
"It got a little better and then I had a little setback in Toronto,'' said Billups, who played Sunday at New York to conclude the 1-3 trip. "I just felt like I wanted to get it looked at. I didn't know I had tears in it (until after being evaluated by a specialist Monday).''
