Minnesota Twins Announce Michael Cuddyer Won't Be Traded

Michael Cuddyer will not leave the Minnesota Twins before the end of the season via trade, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

He may walk when his contract expires at the end of the season, and if the team's announced intention to re-sign him falls through.

But the 32-year-old outfielder will not be traded to the Phillies, Red Sox, Braves, Giants or any other club shopping for a right-handed bat before the July 31 trade deadline, according to the Tribune.

Cuddyer has hit .292 with 13 home runs and 43 RBI in 87 games with the Twins, 42-49 and fourth in the American League Central, who may very well be sellers as the trade stove heats.

But they won't sell Cuddyer, fifth in the majors in batting average among right fielders. He also has the second highest on-base percentage (.368), fourth highest OPS (.833) and sixth highest slugging (.465) among American Leaguers at his position.
