2011 NFL Draft Results: Jacksonville Jaguars Grab Blaine Gabbert at No. 10

2011 NFL Draft Results Finds Blaine Gabbert Getting Picked By the Jacksonville Jaguars at Pick No. 10

Missouri QB Blaine Gabbert was tumbling down the draft board when the Jacksonville Jaguars decided to trade up to secure their guy at pick No. 10.

They threw extra draft picks in the Redskins direction to get a guy that will push David Garrard for the starting spot in 2011.

He completed 44-of-49 passes at his pro day and scouts on site said that three of them were drops. He has pin-point accuracy and the kind of quick release that is essential in the NFL. He threw for 6,822 yards in only 31 games for Missouri.

The issue with Gabbert is his lack of experience taking snaps under center. He almost exclusive play out of shotgun formations which is troubling for a guy that isn't oozing with athleticism.

Gabbert is the safest QB in the draft but the Jags should have been more patient. He would have likely been available at pick No. 16, which was their original pick. No QB was selected during that span and now they are without a second round pick.

I thought there were more pressing needs for the Jags and now they have angered Garrard. This could blowup in their faces pretty quickly if Gabbert struggles.
