2011 NHL Playoffs: Ducks' Bobby Ryan Scores Jaw-Dropping Goal vs. Predators

Forget about the most amazing goal of the playoffs. This might have been the best goal of the season.

In Friday night’s pivotal Game 5 of the Predators-Ducks series in Anaheim, the score was tied 1-1 as the third period got underway.

At his own blue line, Anaheim forward Bobby Ryan—who just returned from a two-game suspension—broke up a pass from Nashville’s David Legwand and raced toward the Predators' goal.

As Ryan and Legwand converged, Ryan slipped the puck to his backhand, putting it through Legwand’s legs and forcing him to lose his stick.

Legwand tried to recover and raced back into position toward Ryan. But Ryan slipped it back to his forehand, again deking right around Legwand’s legs.

Then it was just Ryan and Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne. Ryan again deked to his backhand side and beat Rinne high to the stick side.

Two words: In. Credible.

It was a bit reminiscent of Darren McCarty’s ridiculous Stanley Cup Finals goal for the Red Wings against the Flyers back in 1997.

But this one didn’t end up as well for the goal scorer. Unfortunately for the Ducks, the Preds went on to win 4-3 in overtime on a Jerred Smithson goal.

Still, Ryan’s goal is what has people talking the morning after.
