Arizona's 2011 NFL Draft is filled with intrigue right now, as the Cardinals are totally dependent on the four picks ahead of them.
Arizona needs a quarterback, but according to Sporting News may be out of luck with Cam Newton and Blaine Gabbert (the consensus best QBs in the draft). If those two are off the board by the 5th pick, the Cardinals are in a delicate conundrum. Do they reach at a second-tier QB like Jake Locker, Ryan Mallett or Christian Ponder?
It's a tough call for Arizona, but this scenario would bode very well for Locker, Mallett and Ponder. The Cardinals likely couldn't afford to wait on a quarterback, even if it means a loss of value on their pick. That would let one of those 3 quarterbacks be drafted well ahead of his projection and get the corresponding major payout.
Verdict: The Cardinals' nightmare would be the Best-Case Scenario for those 3 QBs. Whoever gets picked will score a surprise pay day, and the other two have less competition in the rest of the first round.
