Tyron Smith could be picked by Dallas Cowboys
The National Football Post released its latest list of players whose stock are rising and falling.
Among those on the upswing is USC offensive tackle Tyron Smith, projected by many to go to the Dallas Cowboys with the No.9 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
"Not only did Smith prove he?s one of the best offensive tackle athletes to come along in years, but he possesses the ideal frame for the position as well," Wes Bunting writes. "He?s got long arms, has bulked up to 310 pounds and looked very smooth and balanced working from the left side during the USC pro day. There isn?t much this guy can?t do and now looks like a potential top-10 pick with Pro Bowl-type upside."
Others whose stock is rising include North Carolina defensive end Robert Quinn and defensive end/tackle Muhammad Wilkerson from Temple.
I still think Smith should factor heavily into the Cowboys' draft plans, even after the news today of Mike Pouncey saying he'd be "shocked" if he weren't with Dallas next year.
By now, most know that revamping its offensive line is a necessity for Dallas, which has dealt with injuries, age and a lack of toughness against certain opponents.
Dallas certainly needs to upgrade its talent, but I'd rather them pass on certain elite players if they're not disciplined. I would hope executives and scouts can sit down and figure out what's gone wrong in the past, because Dallas certainly hasn't had a string of successes here.
