It's not completely official yet, but Fedor Emelianenko has agreed to fight Dan Henderson for his light heavyweight title in July.
According to Strikeforce CEO, Scott Coker, there is an agreement in place but the deal "is not done yet" according to an ESPN report.
Apy Echteld, who represents Fedor at M-1 Global, has said a deal could be completed as early as Sunday.
"He agreed. He's ready to fight," Echteld said of Fedor.
Fedor has recently travelled to Holland to train and has recently said that he would consider making a drop to light heavyweight.
"With his progress from training, I can only think he'll be back the way he was," Echteld said. "If he doesn't win, he'll make his own decisions like he does now. If he stops, he stops. But if he wins, I think he'll continue fighting."
Henderson has said he would take a fight with the MMA legend, Fedor, regardless of what weight class he was available at. Henderson has talked to Strikeforce officials about the possible fight between the two.
Echteld said the fight could end up being at a catchweight of 216-220 pounds on Showtime pay-per-view.
Henderson is reportedly owed a fight by July from Strikeforce or they could be in violation of Henderson's contract.
